Aguas Calientes is a very small town (not kidding like maybe 10 square blocks) mainly for tourists and Machu Picchu, there is certainly nothing culturally distinct about the town! We arrived around 5 and met an Argentinian woman who told us not to wear jackets but instead tank tops when climbing Machu Picchu the next day (good advice!). Luckily our cab driver from Cusco to Ollantaytambo helped us find a hotel deal for 50 soles a night for two people (thats 10 dollars each person) so we were happy! Also we had brought lots of snacks (fruits and crackers) since everything in Aguas Calientes is at least 2 soles more expensive because you have to transport it from Cusco. Our first night here we walked around and mostly hung out in the center “plaza” which was constructed just in these past couple of decades. We went to bed kind of early so that we could wake up at 4:30 in the morning, get breakfast at 5, then to take the bus to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise at 6 AM. Mainly this night we were SO EXCITED for the next day!
