Arrival in Peru!  I am safe and sound in Lima Peru!  After over 25 hours of traveling I made it here with all my luggage in one piece.  In case you didn’t know, I am coming to Peru to perform statistical analysis on some data sets here about preterm delivery in Peruvian mothers, specifically those who experience extensive stress, anxiety and depression.  Its a 2 month internship starting from July 1st until August 23rd and I am so excited not only for the research aspect of things (and working in a hospital!) but also for the cultural immersion I am experiencing!  I have only been here for 4 days and I am already in love!

Well Andrea (my friend sponsored by the same program as me) and I arrived at the Lima Airport at 2 in the morning and were picked up for the airport by Andrea’s parents.  We pretty much went straight to the hostel where we are staying and passed out.  I have a nice single room on the second floor.  We are staying in a hostel in Miraflores, on of the Lima districts right on the coast and Andrea’s parents live in Magdalena- 2 districts away and about 10 soles (~4 dollars) in a taxi (oh wow, to explain how taxis function here is going to take a whole post in itself)

The next day we woke up and had breakfast (a bread roll, jam, and chamomile tea - bread is really popular here in the morning, maybe with ham and cheese for a less sweet breakfast) and we walked around,  I am going to talk all about our adventures in my next post.  For now, here are some pictures of where we are staying!
